Drivers’ hours/Tachographs

The Transport 1968 introduced a system for the recording and monitoring of the hours that some drivers work. It sets out the maximum periods of driving with minimum rest periods in between, and requires certain vehicles to have tachographs fitted and maintained.

This subject, extended by EC legislation, is an extremely complex area of road traffic law and expert advice must be sought in each case.
